Hello everyone, my name’s Justin and I’m another newbie.

As hobbies go, the obvious; I enjoy computer and video gaming, with a preference towards flight sims and space sims. I played TIE Fighter back in the day, some Freespace and Freespace 2, before I swapped over to consoles and got into Ace Combat. I hopped onboard with SC as soon as I learned about it back in 2012.
For other hobbies, I’m a model-builder, concentrating on modern military aircraft. So far, I’ve completed an SR-71 with attached D-21 drone (technically that makes it an A-12?), a C-17, an A-10, an RQ-4 Global Hawk, and I’m working on an Su-27UB Flanker C. I also did a custom Minnesota ANG F-94 for a friend of mine.

I’m into photography, mostly analog. It slows things down and makes you think about what you are doing.

I play MMORPG’s and FPS.

My favorite things to do next to gaming is reading (sci-fi and fantasy), watching movies and series and doing fun stuff with the family…

If anyone is looking for an easy fantasy book to read I can totally recommend the Tremeraire trilogy, by Naomi Novik…

For me, computer games…sims mostly…I’m not a console gamer…my hands tend to not get connected to my brain.

Huge for me is Drum Corps, Marching band on steriods essentially. I’ve volunteered for the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps numerous times.

I like to sing. I sang in a classic rock band until my job as a concrete repair specialist sent me on the road.

I like to paint tabletop miniatures, but I never really played the games that involved the minis. I would just hire out to other people to paint their armies.

I am a grandpa and love love love babysitting my little ones.

Other then that, being a grumpybastard is not only a hobby, it’s a lifestyle.

SpaceShrimp here, 23 yo and from Ireland.

Needless to say, I’m a fan of video games, so I’ll mention that first. I’ve mostly played single player strategy games with a smattering of other genres as well. I was played Minecraft quite actively as well for a couple of years.

Aside from games, in no particular order:
-Reading. I’ll read a couple of novels a month usually, when I’m not stressing out over exams/assignments.
-Writing. Born from my love of the above, I suppose, but I’m in no way actually good at it. xD
-Maths. Not a very common interest, but I just love the stuff. Which is probably a good thing considering I’m a math student!
-Hiking. There’s a lot of cool places in Ireland to go hiking, and they’re all within a reasonable driving distance. Unfortunately I’ve haven’t done so much of this lately, I’ve been busy with school.

My latest hobby is video editing, but I haven’t been at it very long and I’m not very good at it. It remains to be seen if this is just a passing fad for me. :stuck_out_tongue:

THere are almost too many to list for me. And my wife hates it because just about all of them cost a lot of money and take up a lot of space. Here are the big ones;

Scuba diving
Golf
Guns
Motorcycles (although taking a break until after I finish my undergrad work)
Surfing
Snowboarding
Hiking (completed the Bataan in 8 hours)
Computers (building custom ones)
Sled hockey ([url]USA v Canada | Final | 2015 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships A-Pool, Buffalo - YouTube here is a video. I’ve played with most of the USA guys)
Kayaking

There are more, and I am always open to try new things.

haha, my hobbies kind of comes in waves… I’ll be really into a thing for a while, then get over it and move onto something else, then come back to it in a few years.

The main ones;

  • Computer Gaming - This one is pretty much a constant, though the intensity with which I follow it varies depending on the games available at the time, and the people I have to play with.

  • Warhammer 40k - I’ll be heavily into it for 1-2 years, then not play it for 2-3 years. Presently have a ~5000pt Space Wolf army that’s been on sprues in a wooden chest for a few years now, awaiting me finding the motivation to put it all together…

  • My car - 2006 Subaru Liberty (Legacy) GT tuned by STI, both my daily drive, and a project car. This one is pretty much money dependent. Bunch of things I want to do with it, but money is presently being siphoned elsewhere (GTX1080 for computer, and then found I had a baby on the way…). Long term I’m toying with the absolutely blasphemous idea of dropping a 2JZ-GTE into it (Built for ~400kW), along with a Getrag V160/161, and custom asynchronous exhaust (Purely to confuse the hell out of people by making it sound like an evil Boxer engine  ). Lots of other bits and pieces of work, both cosmetic, and build-up work to the engine/gearbox swap to prep the rest of the car (Drivetrain etc) to handle the power increase.

Basically you could say I found the 3 of the most expensive hobbies I could :stuck_out_tongue:

@ Silverwolf You need to hop on mumble when Hyndrosa1 is on… I’m sure he would love to hear about your car

I’m going to CPR this thread lol, so here goes:

-playing electric guitar, I used to do it a LOT, but since my private practice I don’t play as much anymore
-cooking
-vermiculture
-obsessing over Star Citizen (although this can more accurately be classified as a mental disorder rather than a hobby)

I need more ships

Olivier, 45 old

  • Watercooling (hard tubing).
  • Aquascaping
  • Volley ball
  • Plane Simulators
  • MMOs (TESO, Lineage 2, NW2…)
  • DIY…

Well I suppose gaming is a given.

I do enjoy building things, whether it be custom PC’s, racing drones, or rifles.

I have built custom PC’s in the past and eventually going to build a new one when funds allow.

I’ve built 2 custom 250 class FPV racing drones which are fun, but usually end up crashing them and having to fix them. But that’s part of the fun.

And I like guns. Built a complete custom AR-15 from individual parts; both lower and upper. Also completed an 80% lower (have yet to build the upper for that one) and have a partially finished AR-308 lower. have some other guns as well but those came completed.

Suppose driving quick could be a bit of a hobby as well. Built my truck to be far faster than it should be lol. Managed to get 576hp/1285tq from the rear wheels of my 2000 dodge ram 2500 cummins turbo diesel. It has large injectors, a fueling/timing control box, and compound twin turbos along with other supporting mods. It certainly doesn’t look fast though having 35" tires and being 4x4 and weighing in at 7200lbs but it definitely gets out of its own way no problem!

I also like riding dirtbikes on logging roads and in the woods. I have 2 bikes. One is an old 79 honda XR250 4-stroke which is built like a tank and is about as heavy as one! And the other is an 03 kawasaki KX250 2-stroke which I’ve changed a bit on. New pipe, upgraded reeds, rejetted the carb for tail riding rather than MX racing, added +1 tooth to the front sprocket for for top end speed/longer gears, and added a headlight for getting home if I’m still out when the sun starts going down.

Though sadly haven’t been riding in a while because horse-backers have taken over our riding area and the county has turned it into a park, and aside from that I recently had surgery on my bottom to remove a cyst, so riding is definitely out until my incision fully closes and heals up.

I enjoy driving my car as well which isn’t fast, but I did make it slightly faster than stock lol cause I can’t seem to leave well enough alone. Added malone tuning to it to turn off the EGR after its warmed up to keep the intake from getting clogged up with soot, and upgraded the headlights to proper bi-xenon HID projectors because the stock headlamps were rubbish; but I am firmly against putting HIDs into halogen housings without retrofitting proper HID projectors to keep the light on the road where it should be rather than in the eyes of oncoming traffic. the car btw is a 2004 VW jetta/bora TDI sedan/saloon depending on what part of the world you are from. (yes other than my bikes I only drive diesels and manual transmissions lol. car is a 5-spd, truck is a 6-spd)

Icehockey. What else. Not much time for more besides gameing
