Hello, everyone! I’m brand new to Star Citizen (just purchased the starter bundle yesterday and finished downloading today). I’m fairly excited about the possibilities this game can bring, but I’ve played MMOs enough to know that they’re always so much better with other people to play with. At the moment, weekends are my most free time, but I usually squeeze some time in most evenings.
I’ve played MMOs for a while now. Started in EQ then moved to WoW. I was a guild leader and raid leader in WoW for several years until the guild fell apart and life happened. I’m currently playing Guild Wars 2.
As far as Star Citizen, I’m not terribly interested in combat, but rather have always gravitated to the support roles. In other games, I play tanks and especially healers. In SC, I intend to do more mining, salvage, repair, and other support-type activities (though I understand these aren’t in the game yet).
A little bit more about me, I’ve been a professional software engineer for 13 years. I play cello in a local community orchestra. I have a wife, a 3-year-old (who often demands attention), and a new one on the way in November 2017, so that’s exciting.
It was great getting to chat with you for a bit while Moonbiterr and crew wont their match before your onboarding! Thank you for keeping me company in the lobby. Come find me during next Friday Flight Night (atlasdefenseindustries.com/calendar)
Hey there Valc of Earth - welcome to the ADI community!
I would definitely agree MMOs are much better with groups - before I escaped the addicting grip of WoW I was an officer and co-founder of a very successful guild as well. I can definitely say that ADI will give you the community that you are looking for if you take the time to get to know people here.
As for wanting to play a support role - you have definitely come to the right place. ADI lets you play the game in a manner that suits your play style best while still ensuring you have the tools and resources to be successful. Plus - if you find you dont want to be support and want to be a little more active in combat, you can do that too - we have a bit of everything and our size means we can field a full fleet for any mission.
If you have any questions about the org, dont hesitate to reach out to myself or a team lead - any one of us should be able to square you away pretty quickly.
Other than that, welcome again and dont be a stranger - hop on mumble to get some game time in with the rest of the community!
