Post up your RIG specs

A new post your rig thread! Yay!

I’d like to see what people run SC on and how it performs for them. I’ve just built a great gaming PC that cost a whole lot and I’d like to see what other configs are possible that might be more budget friendly. If you post, put all the details about your hardware and what settings you are running and, as well as your FPS.

My Rig:

  • Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix X570-I (Mini-ITX)
  • CPU: AMD 3800X3D
  • RAM: 32 GB DDR4 3200
  • GPU: EVGA 3080 Copper Ultra FTW 3 water cooled
  • SSD: 2TB Samsung 980 Pro NVMe M.2 SSD
  • Monitor: Dell 60hz 4K
  • Custom water cooling loop w/ 240MM and 120MM rads, slim fans, mobo monoblock

For star citizen I’m running

  • 2560x1440
  • Nvidia upscale to 4K
  • Highest detail setting
  • Volumetric clouds on
  • Vsync on

I get 60 FPS most of the time, and 30+ in bad areas like Orison.

My rig hasn’t changed in years. Still serves me well.

MB: ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero (Wi-Fi) Z390 Gaming
CPU: Intel 9900KF (overclocked to 5.0GHz all cores w/no AVX offset.)
RAM: 64GB G.Skill Trident Z Royal silver DDR4-3600
GPU: Nvidia RTX 2080Ti FE w/ EK full coverage waterblock
SSDs: 2x 500GB Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe m.2
Network: PCIe x4 Mellanox ConnectX-3 SFP+ (with LC fiber transceiver and OM3 fiber connected to my 10G switch)
PSU: EVGA SuperNova 1000 G+
Monitors: LG 34" 2560x1080 166hz G-sync, Acer 24" 75hz 1080p (portrait orientation)
Cooling: custom loop. 480x54mm rad, 360x54mm rad, 270ml reservoir, D5 pump, EK monoblock for CPU/mobo.

SC settings: 2560x1080
highest details
clouds on
vsync off (I use G-Sync, so using V-sync would just interfere and limit my FPS)

FPS is very subjective and dependent on server health, server pop, area you’re in, what you’re doing, and what’s on screen… in FPS combat I average 120FPS, with self status displaying on ship screens I drop to 50FPS average (something about that particular screen that is a FPS sinkhole) and in mobiglass with ship customization showing my FPS drops to around 40-50 as that seems to be another FPS sinkhole. Avg 40+ on orison. Otherwise flying and fighting I average 105fps if self status display is not showing.

edit: not that it means much, but here’s average of entire play sessions according to SC telemetry.

My Rig:

  • Motherboard: MSI GE75 RAIDER (laptop)
  • CPU: i7 10750h (locked)
  • RAM: 32 GB @ 3200
  • GPU: RTX 2070 (the standard)
  • SSD: 2TB Samsung 970 Pro NVMe M.2 SSD
  • Monitor: LG 32" QHD monitor

For star citizen I’m running

  • 2560x1440
  • Highest detail setting
  • Volumetric clouds off
  • Vsync off

same results: 60-80 fps every where except planet side and in towns, where it drops to about 30fps, except Orison. Orison is always 15-25fps

:+1:, I’m still running an 1080Ti, however, need to update and the CPU…

Finally got a good price on GPU and my RAM and some SSD storage is carryover from last build.

  • Motherboard: MSI PRO Z690 DDR4
  • CPU: I7-12700K
  • RAM: 32 GB DDR4 3200 (carryover from last build)
  • GPU: MSI 3080 Ti Ventus (finally managed to get one new for $700)
  • SSD: 1TB Samsung 980 Pro NVMe And 2tb Samsung 970 Evo Plus NVMe for games
  • Monitor: Alienware AW3423DW QD-OLED 3440X1440 34 inch 175 hz
  • Arctic Liquid Freezer II AIO for cpu and air cooled Gpu. EVGA 1000w Gold psu

For star citizen I’m running

  • 3440x1440 (native)
  • Highest detail setting
  • Volumetric clouds on
  • Vsync off

Frame rate is unstable and runs 50-90 fps depending on what I’m doing. Haven’t tried Orison yet.
