New recruit here

Happy to find a clan to ply SC with. I’m new to the game but picking things up quickly.

I am a gamepad user. I’ve grown up using one and am very comfortable with it. I have a 2.6 KD on COD and can destroy most people who use mouse and keyboard. I believe SC is much more immersive using a joystick or gamepad. One of the cons I hear all the time is that there aren’t enough buttons on the gamepad to effectively use it in combat. However, there are some ace pilots in SC that use the gamepad and they do just fine…

The default gamepad keybinding in SC are alright but they are far from perfect. I’m working on a project, through trial and error, to perfect these gaempad keybindings and share them with the community. I have looked all over the internet and have tried many other peoples keybindings but have not found anything that I really like so far. I think I’m off to a good start but would love help and input from other SC players to nail things down. If anyone is interested in exchanging and discussing keybinding XML files please let me know.

Welcome to ADI, I would say good luck with the controller for flying, in FPS totally fun and fine, but there so many different ways to fly your ship and control systems that finding a controller layout is going to be pretty hard. But you can do it there’s lots of UI stuff thats going to help track ir and tablet support will both make working with controller fun. Feel free to look me up always willing to fly and talk SC.

Welcome to ADI, EventHorizon. Controller discussions are always fun. I personally use a Tartarus for MMO’s and FPS, but I am going with a HOTAS for flying. The bottom line is if you can pass your certification with a gamepad and mouse, go for it. Any who, see you in mumble.

Thanks for replies guys. This sounds like a great community. I’m pretty new to SC but have fallin in live with it and hope to learn lots from everyone here.

I’m going to jump on mumble and hopefully get this registration finished. I’m looking forward to the recruitment challenge. I hope to see you guys there.

Welcome EventHorizon,

glad you’ve found us, and us you! We look forward to getting to know more about you while getting in some game time. Be sure to let us know if you have any questions!

Welcome EventHorizon to ADI! If your hands are occupied by the gamepad, you’ll have your head and your feet free, right? By this I of course mean the Track IR for head tracking and pedals for feet. I also suggest a tablet with some buttons aside from the essentials. Check this thread, for example.: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=10831

welcome to the family event!

@Eventhorizon604

Welcome to ADI. Brave man using a gamepad in the mouse/keyboard/joystick/HOTAS/voice control/head tracking world! :laughing:

If you are good with it, who are we to argue?

Come say hello on Mumble, I am always after a new wingman.

Hey there EventHorizon - I always tell new members of ADI not to worry about being new to the game. The honest truth is that the game is not even released yet - much less in a final state! There is plenty of time to learn and plenty of people here at ADI to help you with any questions you may or may not have.

Dont hesitate to reach out to any staff members if you have questions or concerns (though we do suggest starting with a Team Lead instead of going strait to senior leadership).

Hope to see you on mumble some time soon and dont forget about our Friday Flight nights - its a great way to get involved with the community.
