My computer layout

So i kinda just wanted to show off the look of my build “cooler then my laptop” but i also was wondering based off my pics would my layout do fine.

The fans blow air in on front and blow in from top… so the only outlet i have is the 1 fan on the back. Then i just wanted to know if i should look at getting cables with less connections as i have a couple as you can see that have nothing attached but as that side really isn’t seen i wasn’t bothered about look more about effectiveness.

Still so excited to get this going as soon as i get a copy of windows installed :stuck_out_tongue: which i hope to do tomorrow my friend has a copy of it he said we could get installed so it would still work without having to pay for it… but it kinda scares me doing that so should i dish out some cash and go legit… and if so where should i get windows 10.

Also i’m upgrading from my laptop which will mean i can finally get on star citizen and ark again… my computer stopped being able to really play either of them effectively since its a Alienware from 2012 with only a nvidia 660 in it

Don’t do the “install a friend’s copy of windows”. It’s quite illegal.

You can get windows on Amazon for about $120

Like Terraphon said, get a legit license for Windows. Considering the cost of a PC, it isn’t that expense and saves you worry in the future that your license becomes invalidated in the future.

$120 is the price for Windows 10 Home, either on Amazon or Microsoft’s website. For gaming, there is no reason to get Pro which has an MSRP of $199. Most of the Pro features shouldn’t matter such as Hyper-V, Group Policy and Bitlocker. Remote Desktop is a Pro feature, but there are numerous alternative remote access programs such as Chrome Remote Desktop. The only Pro feature I can see being of interest to gamers is being able to postpone windows updates. Personally, I’ve been running 10 Home on my gaming PC for 1 1/2 years and haven’t had this be a problem.

First off - rocking setup man - definitely good work there!

Second - if I may offer a suggestion regarding the fans:
You say you have the top fans blowing inward as well - it looks like you have an AIO radiator in there. I would strongly suggest changing those fans to exhaust (out). As it currently sits, you are pumping hot air form your radiator back into the case - this is going to increase the temperatures on all of your components (especially your GPU). plus, if you do this you should have a more balanced air flow (3 in at the front, 2 out at the top and 1 out at the back) which should mean less dust and longer life span of parts!

Third - after all this work - just get a legal copy of Windows - its not worth the worry =)

Congratulations on the awesome upgrade!

Aight stick to legit then, also i heard from a co-worker that there are online legit sites where i can get a digital key for windows cheaper but again… that doesn’t sound legit. So i’ll stick to mainstream locations for windows.

There are places you can get a legit copy cheaper - just shop for deals on legitimate websites.

That said - if you are a student - absolutely take advantage of the student pricing on Microsoft software - it is significantly cheaper, and the same software (if i remember correctly) as the full priced commercial / consumer versions.

Yeah I got a copy of windows 7 while in college. After college I did the same for 8.1. if you do some digging you can do it without being a student. If I recall it was around $80-90

You can get a key for Windows 10 pro for around $20 if you look in the right places, and they are completely legit.
kinguin.net/catalogsearch/r … windows+10 for one place.
They are OEM keys so they are one use only, so unless you will be constantly changing your motherboard or hard drive it’s a good price.

Cool stuff with those $20 keys. Aren’t those usually locked to a manufacturer though? Dell, HP whatnot…

I haven’t purchased or used a Windows Key since Vista… cough
