Hello ADI, new member here!

Hi, I’m Lorna_Sicling - this was the character name I used when I played Eve Online, which I played for almost 10 years, but stopped playing 2 or 3 years ago.

As part of playing Eve Online, I ran a blog called “Eve Scientist”, which became an official fan site and was part of the Blog Pack of Eve bloggers. I also attended the 2012 Fan Fest in Iceland and met lots of really cool people.

In Eve, I played an industrialist, and made almost everything in the game from ammo and missiles, through to ships, deployable space stations, and Super Capital ships, which my corp usually sold to Pandemic Legion, although we were never actually members of PL at any point.

I’m looking to Star Citizen to fill in the gaps that Eve had, and widened, and hoping that I can enjoy being an industrialist in the Verse!

Great to have you with us!
It sounds like you have some great experience under your belt.
I have never played Eve but it always looked really cool.
I look forward to flying with you in the verse!

Welcome to ADI Lorna_Sicling

Nice to talk to you in the onboarding. Hope you find yourself at home here.

See you in the Verse!

Hey Lorna! Nice to have an economic powerhouse on board. I look forward to seeing you corner production in SC.

Welcome Lorna_Sicling, glad to have you with us here at ADI, you picked the right org to call home. Glad to see an industrialist enthusiast and hopefully see your talents in action when the game takes shape. What ships you flying currently? Hope to fly with you in the Verse!

Currently I have a Prospector and a Hornet, both of which are base loadout. I’ve been flying down to the moon surface from Grim Hex and mining, although only getting 1k to 2k per run atm, so may need to look further afield.

I did try mining in the asteroid field near to Grim Hex, but got shot at pretty quickly, so gave up on that idea. I’m really looking forward to seeing where they go with the indy side, and hope that we can build something pretty major in the Verse together as the game takes shape.

Looking through the ships on the RSI webpage, I really want the Hull A and Hull B to appear in game, they look amazing and just what I’d like to fly. Also the science ships look incredibly interesting.

One thing I need to get to grips with, is when it says minimum crew of 2 or 4 or something, I assume that it really means you cannot launch the ship without that number of people involved. Coming from Eve where you could fly anything you wanted on your own, this both disappoints and excites me - the idea that we’d have a proper mission in an Orion for example, where a group of us go out and rip some asteroids apart sounds amazing.

Hi Lorna_Sicling, welcome to ADI. I’m sorry, I don’t know anything about Eve Online but given your experience I think you’ll find you made the right choice in orgs. ADI emphatically denounces piracy and holds much the same attitude towards grieving. We are an org of adults, playing with maturity that I think you will identify with. There’s a strong mentoring spirit here in ADI that nurtures newer players and keeps the experience players engaged. There are certs and mass ops to focus our interest and apply our skills and there’s our divisions that allow is to focus our game as a part of a larger team, and that’s all separate to whatever you want to do to develop your own game on your own time, baring piracy of course. I look forward to running ops with you and will respond to your mining inquiries with my insights separately.

I have a Freelancer MIS for cargo and a Prospector. I find mining so very relaxing I usually do an hour of it before heading to bed. I’ve found the asteroid field outside of GrimHex is really hit and miss. For all the many times I done it there I’ve never been shot at. I get scanned a lot but not shot at. Mining the surface of Cellin is easy and consequently the returns are generally lower. I prefer to mine the surface of Daymar. The minerals are more lucrative that Cellin but the stones are harder to crack and the sweet spot is usually smaller so it’s a good place to hone your mining technique. My profit is usually between between 4K - 6K uec a trip.

Don’t make that assumption. My Freelancer specs minimum two but I fly it all the time by myself. Even when I’m chauffeuring the MC around the AO in our mass ops, I’m the only one flying the boat and shooting the guns. The Cutlass Black is another one that states two minimum but invariably gets flown by a single operator, as is the Caterpillar; it says minimum two / maximum four but I’ve flown it alone without hardship. If there’s a ship out there that absolutely requires more than a single pilot to function I don’t know it but Monkman2006 probably would. He’s one of our most experienced players and has a vast fleet of ships, I bet he would know.

Hey Lorna_Sicling! Welcome to ADI. It’s always great to get someone onboard that is the level of experience you do. I’m primarially a combat/escort pilot so as smaller cargo ships come into play and you need some support - look me up. See you around!

Lorna, welcome to ADI. It’s great to see such passion for space sims carry over from EVE to SC. Though SC is still obviously nascent compared to EVE, ADI is pushing the limits as to what can be accomplished in game at this time. Look forward to flying with you soon and if there are any ships you want to fly as you think about expanding your hangar, always feel free to speak up in Mumble.

Welcome Lorna! Nice to have another EVE veteran! I ran a corp for 5 years and was heavily involved in our POS management and mining and industry. We did Cap ship construction and T2 and T3 construction and sales. We’ll have to trade EVE stories some time.

Wow, I remember POS management, before fuel blocks it was a nightmare

I’ve just got myself a Freelancer and am doing my first trade run down to Daymar, so hopefully I’ll start to find my feet with both mining and trading. I really can’t wait to see what they do with science and industry here.

As for Eve stories, I was one of the almost 4k record number of people (at the time) who spent all day fighting for a null sec system before ti-di was introduced. To say it was painful would be understating things. I’m interested to see how SC handles things.

Also, travel times are interestingly long, I wonder if there will be something else for travelling larger distances?

Welcome to ADI Lorna_Sicling good to see another person interested in the industrial side of the game, looking forward to what SC brings to the table. Looking forward to flying with you in the verse and eventually exploring the industrial side of things.

Welcome aboard to ADI Lorna! Glad you found your way back to us and made us your SC Home! Maybe one day, I will provide you with Close Air Support or onboard protective services? If you have any questions, please feel free to ask here, Discord, or Mumble. And if you can make it, sign up for the OP on Saturday. There are a couple of 1 PM CST OPs being planned so if you can not make the 8 PM CST OPs, there are those in the coming future. See you soon in the Verse!

Hey Loma! Welcome to ADI! The ORG will meet and exceed your expectations when it comes to the Industrial side of the house! ADI leadership is working hard and waiting patiently for SC to expand. Take advantage of the cert training and the Ops available. See you in the verse!

Welcome to ADI Lorna, cant wait till i see you in the verse

Welcome to the Org Lorna! Definitely a great group of people here, and a well organized Org! Look forward to seeing you out there with us!

Hi Lorna, from me a big Welcome again, too.
I hope the Information that I sent you for mining helped a bit.
The minimum crew for each ship is a recommendation of CIG, a Cutlass with an overclock spezialist or a turret gunner has an advantage over one with one pilot.

Also, travel times are interestingly long, I wonder if there will be something else for travelling larger distances?

There will be Jump Points between Solarsystems, but we dont have a lot of intel on that, and the intel we have might change while developed.

I am glad that I could get to know you a bit, and looking forward to talk to you again!

Welcome Lorna! I hope you can contribute to the lore of SC as much as you did Eve, I’ve got some long term plans for my character too, and try to stay ‘in character’ whenever I’m in game. Glad to have you with us!
